The first-ever English Language Festival 2025 at the secondary level was held in Boalmari, organized by the upazila administration. The grand finale of the English debate competition, one of the festival’s highlights, took place at the Upazila Parishad conference hall on Monday (October 27, 2025).

In the fiercely contested final, Boalmari Government Girls High School emerged as the champion, while Sahasrail Public Pilot High School became the runner-up. A total of 16 educational institutions from the upazila took part in the festival and debate competition.

Outside the conference hall, participating schools showcased various exhibitions under their English Language Clubs, highlighting the importance of learning English. Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Molla visited the stalls and highly praised the students’ creativity and enthusiasm.

Following the debate, the Deputy Commissioner handed over prizes to the winners and runners-up. In his speech as the chief guest, he lauded the initiative, saying that such programs help enhance students’ critical thinking, confidence, and leadership qualities.

“We don’t just want only meritorious students — we want enlightened and humane citizens who will serve the nation and its people,” he said. “Today’s students have shown great potential; they will be the leaders of tomorrow. The activities in Boalmari can serve as a model for the entire Faridpur district.”

After the prize distribution, the Deputy Commissioner also distributed CCTV cameras, digital attendance systems, modern dustbins, and other educational materials among various schools.

The event was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tanvir Hasan Chowdhury. Among others, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shibbri Ahmed, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Jalal Uddin, Agriculture Officer Alvir Rahman, and Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudul Hasan Social Welfare officer Md Karijul Islam, President of Boalmari Pressclub Advocate Korban Ali, vice-president Kazi Aminul Islam Amin, General Secretary Md. Anowar Hossain .The winner receives the award from the Deputy Commissioner Muniba Rahman

The debate competition was moderated by Professor Rizvi Zaman, Principal of Government Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Magura. Lecturer Kamal Uddin of Government Rajendra College and Lecturer Monir Hossain of Government Yasin College served as judges.

The competition began on October 13, with 16 teams from 16 schools participating across two venues. The festival concluded with the grand finale on Monday.After the English Language Festival and Debate Fair, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Molla laid the foundation stone of the Upazila Children’s Park and inaugurated a new ride. Later, he visited Boalmari Police Station and Boalmari Municipality. Finally, he inaugurated the newly built courtroom of the Village Court at Satair Union Parishad, which was recognized as the best union of the year. On the same day, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanvir Hasan Chowdhury spent a busy day accompanying the Deputy Commissioner.
